EPISODE 80:

What is the Difference Between Being Introverted and Isolating?

The antidote to loneliness is being alone with yourself

with Tommy Rosen

On this week’s episode of In The Circle, we have Kathy bringing a very unique yet relevant inquiry that requires a bit of unpacking. Kathy inquires: what is the difference between being an introvert and isolating?

Kathy wrote to us and said, “I usually hear that human beings are hardwired for connection and that we are social creatures. I do not believe it to be true for every human being – it isn’t true for me.”

As we go down the path of this inquiry, we’ll learn that Kathy has been introverted most of her life and that her family was not necessarily comfortable with that.

We explore what it means to find solitude, the importance of cultivating a relationship with oneself, and how that relationship compares in importance and in necessity with the relationships with those around us.

This inquiry brings up a lot of questions about the difference between being an introvert and self-isolation.
